Be prepared to cut the old block plug out with a big hammer and a big chisel (emphasis on BIG) or acetylene torch.

The last one i took out would not budge with a 6 ft cheater or a 15" chisel and 6 lb hammer. I heated it red hot with the torch, then applied both the cheater and the chisel at the same time before it broke loose. I am reluctant to cut the plug out with a torch for fear of messing up the threads.

a block heater does not go in the radiator hose, it goes in the side of
the block. Those radiator hose heaters dont work nearly as well as a
real block heater.
