I did the seals of my 603 at about 300K, I made a tool, but will get the right one next time. The old seals were very brittle. I only changed them because I was in there doing the chain anyway. I noticed NO change in oil consumption/smoking, as Marshall says. Valve seals have little influence on oil consumption because there is no vacuum as in Gassers. I still feel better having good seals.
