I think they are considered more "modern" and do not take quite so much
power to run. Lighter weight too?
I know there are brackets available to swap from the old York style but
I hear some of the brackets do not fit well.

Perhaps she had an A/C setup installed later? That might explain the
different compressor.
She may have wished for a factory setup instead of the aftermarket install.
