A coupla weeks ago I went through Costco and found a Ford dealer up in
the DC area (Columbia MD) who had all their prices on their web site,
the sales guy who called me had a coupla other reduction deals (student
-$500, first time buyer another -$500 I think). The prices were about
as low as I have seen, pretty much pay and go. I don't know if Toyota
does like that, but that seemed like a pretty good way to do it, and the
sales guy was like, come and get it, this is the best you can do
anywhere, and I had to agree. He also said his price was lower than
what the "Costco" price was.
You might recall I looked at used prices and even for a car a few years
older they were not significantly less, considering what issues a car
with 50k or 70k miles might have. The market is kinda screwy these days.
I kinda get the sense that with the internet, and dealers just looking
to move product (their margins come on repairs and financing) you can
find the "bottom-line" deal by looking around, and asserting cash money
drive it away no screwing around pricing. I would think that something
from the RDU area, or Charlotte, would give you a better deal just
because of volume they move, or even a bit further into DC area. You
want a Toyota, just check their web sites and see what they have, shoot
a note, ask for cash money price today.

OK, y'all, here's another chance for ya to excel. #1 son (single, no children)

Checking on internet, I've found a possible replacement vehicle (reg cab,
though) at $19,000+ MSRP. I've never bought a vehicle via all of all of this
new-fangled internet stuff -- well, I did find my showroom 87 300D 9 years ago
on cars.com, then reverted to traditional method of personal contact, viewing,
driving, negotiation, etc. - but do ya have any tips about other info that I
may obtain from internet before I go out to the dealer's? What sort of
negotiation is possible on dealer's internet price, etc?
BTW, he'll get loan at my local fed. credit union where he also has home loan.
