GM makes the top engine cleaner part number 50001 as I recall, it is about
$5 for a quart. This stuff is magic on carbon. Bring the cylinder causing
problem up to TDC, then pour this stuff in injector hole and let sit over
night. See if the carbon is not all dissolved. 

Note you will want to change oil after this. Also if the cylinder does have
carbon it might be time to change the valve guide seals. 

I had this problem on one glow plug once, but I just kept twisting and
pulling until it came out.
