Your description is not very concise nor will it logically parse. So with some guessing as to what you tried and what did and didn't work... If the lights work with the charger connected, and don't work with the charger disconnected, then likely the battery is dead. If there is no lights with or without the charger, then there isn't current flowing through them because it is interrupted someware.
