Can you not tell your computer to use

nameserver 208.67.222.222 # resolver1.opendns.com
nameserver 208.67.220.220 # resolver2.opendns.com

?

In Linux, all I do is change /etc/resolv.conf and I'm using different
name servers. If you do it by IP and not by name, unless the router
rejects DNS requests, I don't see why it would not work.
