I guess I don't understand this, are you suggesting that the 4.5 wasn't very fuel hungry with its mid-high teens fuel economy?

Enormous power out of the 4.5L, much more (and at much lower rpm) than the sixes, which were screaming at highway speed and as a result very fuel hungry (upper teens to very low 20's mpg).
