Why not one of those big middle-of-the-hood ram air scoops that you have to crane your neck to see over? That would look real sporty on your Mercedes.

Very few production V8s will spin as fast as a Benz M116 (6200 rev limit) or an M117 (5800 rpm rev limit). American iron is 4200 to 4500 and the DON'T like going faster -- not enough skirt on the piston, they won't live long. Newer DOHC with variable timing may get up that fast, but typically not, the valve train gets hard to manage and the inherent vibration does bad things to the crankshaft.

In-line sixes go scary fast with a good valve train, so do V12s.
