I'm not acquainted with the referenced 300 gasser, but as a kid I drove our family's 1966 250S which was anything but slow. In fact it was a jet. My sister claimed she had it over 120 mph. It was a straight 6 with a torque curve that never ended when you wound it up. And it was smooth and quiet as a turbine, but longevity was not its strong point. Unbelievable smooth ride. I seem to recall 17 mpg as typical. The 240Z motor was a carbon copy.
