Most auto-dark helmets are solar charged.. Lay it in the sunlight for a few hrs and I'll bet your problem goes away.
Low battery charge = slow response time.. Just above or below the lens, there will be a small solar panel.. if you don't weld often.. it gets no charge.. if you keep helmet in dark.. no charge..
