Most people in any kind of shape can out split a log splitter on speed for relatively small rounds. The only time a splitter is worth having is if you're going to do a large amount of wood in just a few days. If you're willing to split your wood over the whole summer a few rounds at a time a splitter is a waste of money.
I've got a little person powered hydraulic splitter. Its basically a bottle jack on a log splitter. I use it to get big rounds started, then finish quick with the axe. If the wood is relatively straight the axe is way faster. -Curt Date: Tue, 25 Feb 2014 14:51:05 -0600 From: Randy Bennell <rbenn...@bennell.ca> To: Mercedes Discussion List <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Subject: Re: [MBZ] Social Security and Obamacare Message-ID: <530d0239.50...@bennell.ca> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Andrew, you need to try out a hydraulic splitter. My father built one many years back and it is not pretty but boy can it ever split wood. I am no purist when it comes to work of that nature.
