Yep, you;re right - it would've been *much* easier with the oil warm! I did
a similar thing a while back - my oil was only warmed a little and it took
*forever* - no, make that "freakin' forever" to suck that cool oil into the
vacuum tank! Thought I'd never finish!
After that, I always toook the time to warm the engine by driving it 10
minutes or so. For me, that seemed like the right amount not too cool, not
too hot. The vacuum tank worked *much* better!
