Bombing and navigation computers on B-52A through F models from early
'50's had electro-mechanical computers with vacuum tubes and cathode ray
RADAR displays.
B-52G models from mid-to-late 50's and H models from early 60's until
early-to-mid '80's had electronic (transistor) bombing and navigation
computers and cathode ray RADAR displays.
Digital bombing and navigation computer systems were installed in G and H
models in early- to-
-mid '80's. Displays since then have been cathode ray units.
Instrumentation, including flight instrumentation, was analog until
installation of digital bomb/nav systems in '80's. Much of the flight
instrumentation I understand is still analog. Communication has been via
HF and UHF radio; messages are copied onto paper with pencil or onto
plastic-covered forms using grease pencil (not quite chalk board, but
close - same principle).
