china is also the largest buyer of Porsche's in the world. They are building 6-8 new dealerships as we speak... It's amazing what you can do with a captive labor force....

Ahhhh... grasshopper.. China is the worlds fastest growing economy right
now.. it has no child labor laws, it has no EPA, it has no unions, and it
executes executive people who don't make quota production. Perfect storm ?

Beside that, it now has an emerging middle class who buys cars by the
millions and it now desperately needs supplies of oil / gas to run them.
Sorry... the oil will go to China and be consumed there.. China is now
buying Irans oil when all others have embargoed it... Competition at the
pump with USA consumers..

BRIC was formed to crush the US Dollar as the world reserve currency used
in oil purchases [and others]... It is gaining huge traction. Brazil,
Russia, India, China [ BRIC] has now been joined in principle by a number
of European Union countries, for example...

Time for real leaders to lead America yet?

Inquiring minds want to know.. just so I can keep driving my now antique
Mercedes diesel...

Well, the simple answer is like the rest of industy.
It is likely cheaper and cleaner to buy it from China.
So, they will haul our oily sand to China, refine it into a semblance of
fuel and ship it back to us.

Sad but if my information is accurate, there have been NO new refineries
approved by the EPA to be built on US soil in past 25 years. As of, I
believe, 2 years ago, all the refineries in North Eastern USA were closed
due to extreme tightening of EPA regulations. Those refineries were the
oldest in USA and the owners wanted to build new ones rather than continue
to "patch them up" to meet EPA regs, but no no no.. that wouldn't do..

Bottom line.. we are "refinery capacity short" as a nation. The production
from the Baken fields is increasing with no increase in refinery
capacity... not a perfect storm yet, you think?

Another pure case of government intervention in capitalism perhaps? Logic
by legislation? Gives one wonder at why congress now has the lowest
public
support in history.. doesn't it..

I don't know if that is true but maybe close to it.
I think that China owns a "Canadian" company that is involved in the
Alberta tar sands already.
The current idea seems to be to build a pipeline through BC to a port on
the coast that will then permit them to haul the stuff home by ship
without
going through the US.
Won't need the pipeline through the US if that happens soon enough.
Meanwhile the railways will haul it through the US and some towns there
will blow up too but like the one in Quebec, the railway will likely
belong
to someone in the US so it only seems fair that they blow up a few of
their
own towns.
Of course, if things continue to go bad in Iraq etc, then who knows what
will happen next?

All the oil going through the Keystone pipeline is pre-sold by the
Canadian company extracting it to China. Not a single drop would stays

the US, as it is already flowing via a slightly more round-about way.
  Nice
of them to dump all the pollution from refining in Texas.

Also blowing up and burning down Canadian towns.
