Remember the 1984 500SEL I was looking at?

The guy got it running after I had told him there was no way it would go
anywhere until the fuel tank was cleaned out. He took my advice and drained
the tank and cleaned the strainer, but did nothing more.

After that he had someone on the hook who was looking at it for their son.

I had offered him $700 for the car as-is, which he rejected, as the "new"
potential buyers had offered him $900 after he had shared my offer with them.
Definitely a good negotiator here.....

Anyway, I left it at that and moved on. That was easily 2-3 weeks ago.

Got an email from him this morning saying I could have the car at my price
($700) as:

"Well after 3 trips to my house and 2 friends of daves wife ( experts) they
called this morning and said they were going to buy a KIA soul for their son. I
have never had someone come and check out an car so much in my life. The car is
doing what you said it would again. Sometimes it runs and then sometimes it
acts like it has no gas. I'm tired of all of this if you want the car it is
yours for $700. Please callme if you want the car."

Tough beans, buddy. I really want to counter with $500 now and see if he
bites, but I don't have space for the car. I would just flip it anyway, as I
don't have a need for it.

Thoughts?

Gary, want a 1984 500SEL cheap?

Dan
