All well said! I especially liked the part where you said " we have a
problem in the USA, and it would appear to be armed police, not armed
citizens.". More Guns equal Less Crime is a fact.
We should also remember the other saying "it tales a good guy with a gun
to stop a bad guy with a gun".
I hope everyone will follow the links provided below by Rick which show
how bad the police are when they must use their guns.

We're way off topic here, but Ottawa is a major city in Canada.
In major cities in USA, like New York and Los Angeles, police accuracy standards
require them to shoot one cop or two innocent bystanders for every perp they
shoot. In order to keep up on their shooting practice, they're expected to fire
a full 17 round magazine for every perp they shoot at.
