That is the process, yes.

I think I paid $40 for mine a couple of months ago from an Amazon vendor.  
There is an even better product they off, a “Platinum” version, that doesn’t 
require that the system be evacuated and recharged.  It has a desiccant built 
into it so any moisture in the system gets zapped by it.

I know a guy down here with a W140 that had an evaporator leak about four years 
ago.  He used this stuff and hasn’t had to top off yet.
