The most efficient car is the one you don't have to build and scrap.
Keep old Benzes running and forgo the energy needed to make a new one
that will last a third as long if that.
I put in another mini-split heat pump system in the house about 1.5
weeks ago when the old system died (I was trying it nurse it through the
winter to avoid the expenditure on a new system). First time the house
has been really comfortably warm since we bought it 6 yr ago. The old
Heil forced-air HP system (15yo) was noisy and inefficient and a lot of
the warm and cool was leaking out the ducts under the house. The new
one can barely be heard running and will run you out in a few minutes.
These things are amazing and I'm sure our power bill will probably drop
by half and pay off in a year or two.

Combating climate change by increasing energy efficiency may be more
effective than investing in renewable energy technologies, like solar
arrays and towering wind turbines. Pursuing that path may be more
economically prudent, too, advocates said.
