Are you suggesting that they would change the steering system from rack and pinion to recirculating ball (steering gear?)
If I read this right, his point is that the _gearing_ in the RB steering box is different between manual and power-assist units. He's wondering if the same is true in RP units. I'm assuming he can get a relatively inexpensive power unit for his Alfa, and is worried that it'll drive differently after the (presumably without hooking up the hydraulics) swap.
