A zero turn is most useful when you need to mow around a lot of stuff, planters
and whatnot.
How much are you mowing on Okie acres? If its a lot and you don't have a lot of
obstacles I'd vote for a 3 point finish mower on your tractor. It'll be a big
mower and you'll be able to carry some ground speed so your time in mowing will
be less plus you'll burn less fuel.
I'm curious about the trouble you've had with your MTD, we have a cheap MTD at
camp (the $1000 riding mowers are ALL the same MTD model regardless of badging)
and its been solid. We've mowed a million miles in very heavy conditions and
we've only replaced the belt once.

Thought about a zero turn but don't think I want to spend the extra money
