Another way to look at it: R's get all the in-fighting out of their system now, by next spring there should be a clear winner or maybe just a couple, then plenty of time to get over the hurt feelings and get to work. Die-hard R's and D's can't be swayed, but independents sometimes wait until the last couple of months or even less before they start paying attention.
I think Trump's polling numbers jumped, indicating approval for his so-called "attack" on McCain, which according to Flush Limbaugh means that the lamestream media's ability to influence voters has greatly declined.
