Yes but now my iMac seems to have a failing hdd or hdd fan so I might need to 
deal with that. I do have a timething backup so I am pulling files off that to 
my MacBook and will copy the backups to another hdd too just to make sure I 
have some redundant backups. 

I reinstalled the OS X and it is still funky so guess it's not the install. I'm 
currently running an extended test.
