For the tranny, use Mobil-1 ATF, or any quality Dexron fluid per the specs in the owner's manual.
For the P/S, I would get the proper MB stuff, order it from Rusty if it's not convenient locally. The real MB fluid is a gold/amber color, not red. But, you don't *have* to use the MB fluid... and if not, I would use Mobil-1 ATF for the P/S fluid too. Again, any quality Dexron fluid should suffice in a pinch. In the past, I had used Valvoline SynPower fluid because it was cheap, easy to locate, and not red... but I had mixed results with that fluid, and eventually decided it wasn't worth saving a few bucks to not use the genuine MB fluid. I don't know of anyone who ever had problems with M-1 ATF, though. =) -Dave M. > ------------------------------ > Date: Sat, 11 Feb 2006 11:23:42 -0500 > From: Sunil Hari <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: [MBZ] fluids usage > > Regarding PS fluid, I heard -somewhere- that you didn't have to use the > actual MB stuff.
