Thanks folks for all your help on educating me and setting me straight. Well I'm pretty sure that the phone line solution is out. First of all I don't have enough conductors, and then the potential for damaging things is not worth the risk. I'll look a little more into the system that uses the house wiring, but the wireless really seems to be the ticket.
