A friend who has family in Alaska told me they can get "tags" to harvest a certain number of moose hit by trucks. When one is killed, you are called and if you don't come in a certain time frame they call the next person. He said a moose can really fill up a food locker and the meat freezes quickly so little chance of spoilage.
