Thursday the new motor mounts arrived and I put them on. The big bolt from down under (Mount to engine) on the driver side stripped the head before it let go. I got the other side to let go before something broke, but just barely. It was very tight. I did get all the mount to frame bolts loose. I had to take the left motor mount off the engine and buy a $43 set of bolt extractors (over the head) to get that side out. The left side was also complicated by the fact that the mount was completely disintegrated, so it was hard to find and get to the 6mm head allen bolts (8mm?)

The trans mount is not new, but was not collapsed, so I did not change it. I started to, but one of the captive nuts was rusted away so the bolt and nut just spun. I was running out of time, so I quit. Another day, I will need to order new captive nuts and buy some bolts and have at it.

It had gotten so bad that SWMBO got scared by the noise of the engine flopping around on the broken mount. Now I have to convince her to drive it again. A few short runs or a couple dual runs where she is a passenger may do the trick.
