I’m not sure about that.  My self managed IRA is based on Apple stock that I 
started purchasing regularly over 20 years ago. There have been three splits 
since I started investing in Apple.  I couldn’t tell you what my ROI is, but 
I’m guessing it’s in at least the high three digit range.

If you invested $1000 in their stock in 1980 when they went public you would 
have around $350k in round numbers, which would put your ROI in the 31,000% 
range, I believe.
