Much discussion on liberal radio about going to straight popular vote vs
Electoral College (because Hill got about a half million more votes).   Of
course, if that happened campaign strategies and tactics would be changed to
be optimized for a different scoring system.  Also, I'm sure many red voters
in big solid blue states (like CA or NY) stayed home (because their votes
couldn't change electoral outcome) but would suddenly have a reason to vote.
But the main problem would be recounts.  With the current system, only one
or a couple states need to do recounts.  With a close vote using a popular
vote system, every state would need to recount.  Like FL 2000 on steroids!
What a horrible prospect.
