I'd be interested to find out if it is the wheels and tires.
Change them around between the two cars and see if the ride does
indeed change. After all there are other things involved there
such as the springs and shocks which might contribute to the
difference.

I don't know why, but my 300D with Bundts rides a lot smoother on rough roads
than my 240D with steel wheels. Less unsprung weight on the Bundts?
