Did you drive the 240D back from the west coast or ship it? Low compression in
one cylinder sounds like either setting valves or carboned up rings. Set the
valves, put a couple cans of diesel purge through it and a can of Diesel Kleen
in the tank, drive it out of Chi-Town until fuel runs low, tank up, put another
can of Diesel Kleen in the tank and drive back. If it improves you've got a
runner.
That 280SE looks great. If I had someplace to keep it I'd love to have one.
Leaving it outside in the winter would be a tragedy.

Originally got the 77 240D in Calendonia Green / Tobacco MB Tex from
Portland as a gift. Some of you might remember that it had no title so I
went through the bond process to get one, replaced calipers, tires, and
drivers seat. She runs as doggy as they come, lacks compression in the
first cylinder. Body and interior both good. Has just been sitting in the
garage across the street from my office collecting dust. 230k+ miles. Zip
is 60657 if someone wants to come take a look at it.

Picked up the Dark Green / Black 70 280SE from Oklahoma where it was a one
family car, runs strong, has a vapor lock issue at 190 degrees or so. This
was supposed to be a project for my father in law and I, but his hand keeps
getting worse, and I think the thought of working on it just frustrates
him. Body is straight, and the interior is in great shape. Comes with the
original invoice / docs, and original German plates. approx 96k miles. This
is out in the burbs 60451 if someone wants to take a look.

Some pics attached. Taking offers. Could really use the money right now, as
my daily driver was stolen and insurance settlement didn't exactly make me
"whole." Will try and list on CL or BaT if the group isn't interested.
