Took the POS W220 to the dealer to get things taken care of. Seems that the
body shop did a poor job of sealing the rear window and that allowed water to
congregate in the well behind the driver side rear wheel. Enough that it
affected the Tele Aid, CD changer and Bose Amp. The body folks did not hook
the command system together right anyway, but now the CD no longer works
(submerged), TeleAid is obsolete anyway (underwater) and the Amp was getting
wet. Operation is intermittent after the fix.

I wonder if the Bose amp is the same across the line for that period. Looks
the same as the ML and E from 98-2002. Would it be shared with the W202 and
W129 or w170?

Other item of interest was the complete lack of blinker fluid on the driver
side. The tattle tale on the dash was certain that none of lamps worked, but
they had been until recently the rear just quit blinking. Low pressure from
lack of fluid? No. The body is junk and the whole board is failing. I need
to look into sourcing a fresh tail light assembly.

The battery was checked out as part of the diagnostics. It was from 2005 and
just barely hanging on. Now I have a fresh battery.
