Oh man, I just came in from working on my '91 Arctic Cat Jag 440cc. It would
pop but wouldn't stay running so I figured a quick carb cleaning was in order.
It has dual carbs which is double the fun but they're relatively easy to pull.
Sadly I found evidence of mouse activity in the carbs which both had plugged
pilot jets which explains why it wouldn't run. So the air box has to come out.
This is a very common snowmobile repair but some idjit designed the air box so
the gas tank has to come out first. To get the gas tank out the seat has to
come off. Of course the seat bottom is rotten and I broke the bolts...Finally
got the air box out and cleaned and back in.Seat is in the basement by the fire
drying out. I noticed the plastic gas tank filler neck was a little torn so I
cleaned that up and gooped some three bond on it, sadly I don't think shoe goo
is gasoline safe...
Tomorrow I'll get new bolts for the seat, clean the carbs and get it all back
together. New mouse prevention protocols go into effect this spring...
