Not actually true. Take a new shock and release the restraint. It will
expand and it will require considerable force to compress it. New shocks
exert maybe 30-50 lb of upward force when in the neutral position.
Unlike most "American iron," Mercedes springs ALMOST never fatigue (they
occasionally break). Talk with the really educated and experienced
Mercedes pros and they will tell you that they have rarely needed to
replace a Mercedes spring because of fatigue.
