Yeah that sounds like the same stuff, I don't recall Meguiars The googs show that meguiars make it now, maybe it was the same back then. Still spendy.

My memory resolution is not good enough to make out the manufacturer!

I was thinking the can was red and white with a curved sunburst sort of graphic with the mirrorGlaze in an oval over the sunburst.

Is that how you remember it? I do remember it was very expensive. Maybe $5 or $8 a can back in the 60s. We did not dilute it.

I went to a gliding club openhouse once many years back. A friend was one of the tow pilots and I remember him cleaning the windshield on the tow plane with something like that. It was a sort of a cream color and quite thick. He poured it on and rubbed it around with a cloth and the dead bugs came off and left the windshield very nice. Lots of bugs when one is doing take offs and landings on a grass strip in a farm field at certain times of the year. I think the product was a Meguiars brand but was not sure.

No idea, it was so long ago I don't remember. It came in a metal rectangular can and apparently was quite pricey as the bean counters made us dilute it like 10:1 with water in a spray bottle, which might have been how it was supposed to be used anyway, I never paid attention to the instructions! Occasionally if the windscreens were particularly nasty we would use it directly. It was also drilled into us not to use shop rags but paper towels as the shop rags sometimes had metal shavings in them. OK on the glass but not on the plexi.

The stuff was a kinda beige thick liquid. It cleaned pretty well but it also took some scrubbing. I think it had a solvent base of some sort as it had that aroma.

Funny thinking about this I can actually see the can in my mind right now, it has been like 40 years since I last used the stuff!

was that (or is that) a Meguiars product?

Ages ago when I was a ramp rat the local FBO we used some stuff called "MirrorGlaze" on the plexi windows on airplanes. It cleaned and polished (and was a dessert topping too!) at the same time. Left a bit of a waxy sort of coating that made it easier to get bugs off. It smelled vaguely like Pledge (original formula).

I use Pledge to clean the bugs off the propeller and wing leading edges on the Cessna, and the inside of the windows/windshield. Water and a special UV barrier cleaner get used on the outside of the windows and windshield
(all Plexiglas).

I always used Pledge to clean the visor on my helmet and the windshield on

Softened and removed the bugs without scratching the plastic.
Smelled good too as a bonus.
