my first VW had 6.50-16 tars on it. Took forever to accelerate (36 HP)
but was pretty economical on Benzin.

Tons of room in a W116's wheel wells.
Mine had BIG tires on it when I bought it, like 215,225, or 235R78-14.
Got something like 28mpg driving it home from Florida, the low rpm
tires might have had something to do with that.
