I was confused.  I thought he had two sets - one W123, one W126 and he mixed 
them up, giving me one from each.  In reality, he had two axles - both W126, 
one for first gen models, one for second gen models.  I have no need for a 
first gen axle, as it won’t fit any of my cars.   The second gen axle he gave 
me fits the 300SEL, which works out well, as it has a boot that is nearly toast.
