The one that was on the donor SEL was a Vickers and had the tag legible with the part number (which is the same I think as the one in the repair tutorial I found. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w126-s-se-sec-sel-sd/1990089-power-steering-pump-seal-replacement-all-7.html ) The one on the SEC had the tag but it was not legible. There is a little bit of impression left I might be able to see if I get out a magnifier. The housings are the same, I guess the guts might be a bit different.

Rusty sold kits. you need the numbers from the pump itself to order. I am fixin ta do the one on the 240D, but it is a different pump. I did the dual pump on the 124 wagon that they claim is not rebuildable. Rusty got the kits for it. Simple, so long as you keep track of order and orientation of the internal parts.\

Try the usual sources for a kit.

I decided to take a look at the 560SEC power steering to see where the fluid was leaking. Getting under the car it looked like it was coming from the pump itself not the hoses as there was fresh fluid dripping down from it onto whatever stuff is below there, AC hoses and whatnot. So I took a look at the 420SEL that is sitting getting knackered and to donate the engine to the other 420SEL that the engine jumped timing on. The pumps were the same, though the one on the SEC I couldn't make out the plate for the part number. Took the 420 pump off, took the 560 pump off and they look identical so I cleaned up the 420 pump and put it on the 560. Filled it with fluid and it looks like nothing is dripping and it is pumping though it had a bit of a knock in it maybe, so that might be success on that annoyance.

It looks like these things can be rebuilt? There was a big retainer ring in back that looks like it it holding everything in there, if that pops out I wonder if the guts will come out then some seals or something can be replaced? Anyone know about this, ever done it?
