Farmers try to shoo away farm pests with robotic wolfPublished: Thursday, August 3, 2017
Farmers in Kisarazu, Japan, are testing out a robotic wolf intended to scare away crop-damaging wildlife. The robot, named Super Monster Wolf <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzfSfwR0ZFw>, is almost the size of an adult wolf and is covered in fur, according to a Japanese agricultural cooperative association. When the robot detects wildlife with its infrared sensor, it goes into a frenzy to scare the wildlife away, with flashing red eyes and 18 different sounds blaring from its speaker, including a wolf's growl and a gunshot. So far, the Super Monster Wolf appears to be a success. There have been no signs of wildlife or birds near farms since it was installed in early July, a Kisarazu city government official said (*Japan News/Forum of Fargo-Moorhead* <http://www.inforum.com/news/4306591-robot-wolf-helps-scare-wildlife-away-farmers-crops>, Aug. 2). _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
