I just did all the pods in the dash of my 83 TD last week. Took a
few hours. I just bought the rubber cups and rebuilt the pods
that were in there. It was very easy, well other then getting
them out and then in again. replacing the rubbers was a cinch and
cheap too.

I am watching a wheeler dealer episode on TV and they are doing a 87
560SL. Guy just did the timing chain and upper rails. The chain that
was in it had the master link with the c clips. He made mention how
that shows it has been replaced at some point and it looked good but
was not sure when it was done so is replacing it anyway. Car has 135k
miles. So he rolled in a new one and installed it with c clips
again. It has been a long time since I have worked on a M117 but I
thought the c clip link was just for installing it, then you had to
peen them over for final install. Am I wrong. Next he is pulling the
dash to replace vacuum pods. Lets see how that turns out.
