Hopefully they will do the brachial one (through the wrist) rather than up the femoral artery. Not fun, but at least you just have a small puncture wound in your wrist and a pressure bandage for a few hours, then a 5 lb lifting limit for a week instead of a clip and stitches.
I don't remember much of mine, they give you a big dose of nitrates to dilate your arteries and a big dose of morphine to keep the pain under control, some people have a rough time. I think I may have felt the catheter moving once or twice, but was in la-la land for most of it. They will put in any stents needed while they check you out -- there are several conditions that can cause reduced blood flow to the heart muscle, including tears in the artery wall that act just like deteriorated brake line inner sections. Cured by stents. If you have eaten large amounts of trans fats earlier in life you could also have quite a bit of sludge in your arteries, again a stent will fix that along with dietary changes. Have you had an echocardiogram? Those, at least, are just a PITA, not particularly painful. Hope all goes well. _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
