GIMP took me a long time because I know too much Photoshop. Once I changed keyboard shortcuts to match it wasn't too hard. There are lots of tutorials... Curt

Thank you. I searched for grub and ran across the grub website. I saw a page on the grub website which stated why they rewrote grub entirely, and that was to make it more flexible (probably to deal with EFI and UEFI). There were other pages which described how it now works. They were long and exceedingly detailed. All I wanted to do is get my laptop working again, so I searched for "Dual boot CentOS 7 and Windows 7", that led me to the URL I quoted. > Perhaps your mode and chainload has to do with these boot systems? There are two ways to boot a system, directly and through a boot loader. Most open-source OSs are able to be booted directly; one non-open-source OS does not allow that, so grub as a bootloader has to call the M$ bootloader with the command, "chainloader +1". > This is all geek to me - but you got it done, cool!! Not that I entirely understand it. Figuring out gimp would be a nice geeky thing to do, but I don't have the time now.
