Curley, you should head back up to the Great White North and snag
this. These things were built under a huge contract Onan had with the
government for civil defense in the 1960s. They’re built like brick
doghouses, and have a 12 lead reconnectable alternator on the, which
is almost unheard of for such a small generator. After all, how many
amps at 480 volts are you going to get out of a 7500 watt generator?
Yes, it’s hand crank, but they can be converted to electric start
fairly easily.
I used to see and service these by the hundreds. Seems like they gave
every little village and burg one during the civil defense programs in
the 60s.
