Since she mailed you a fraudulent check, its wire and mail fraud. That’s a federal crime. Since $1600 - $449 - shipping would likely be > $1,000 loss to you if you returned the overage to her, I think law enforcement would be interested. I would contact law enforcement. There are some older people that fall for this and lose a lot of money. Help someone not be the next victim.
