My snow story relates to repairing our hydraulic wood splitter. I was doing
it outside in November and it was snowing big fluffy flakes so hard that my
tools would disappear in a minute or so if I set them down. I managed to
change the sprockets and chain and find most of the sockets etc.

Interesting that you mentioned Zen-like..... I was thinking this afternoon
that tiredness and working with a light was not helping and I needed to put
a little more Zen (what ever that is) into it when I start over.

I learned most of what I know about auto repairs the hard way, at some point
I discovered what you all know -mental attitude made a huge difference.

My outdoor, in the snow, story is replacing the differential in a 49 Ford in
a foot of snow. I think someone bet me that I could not do it in less than
a certain amount of time. I spent more time under that car than I did
driving it. Would love to have it back though.
