Yes, that was my first comment to him. "That's why I do my own work. I don't trust my life to stealers." followed by: "The stealer monkey has incentives to cut corners. He has no incentive to look out for you."

I've changed many baster cylinders, and never had a problem crossthreading the flare nuts. It only takes a tiny bit of care to be sure the tubing is aligned. Then the nut screws in without a problem.

Oh, and on point#1, sometimes getting the threads started on brake lines can be troublesome. Flat rate mechanics are in too big of a hurry...
