Their 14-cup model has been around forever, is recommended by America's Test
Kitchen, and has been using mostly compatible bowls, lids, and blades for many
decades. The current model is made in China, but most agree that the production
from Japan is better quality than the new one. I have recently found 3 of these
on CL (one for me and one each for my 2 sons) for about $70-80 each.

The Japan models are DLC-7, DLC-7 Pro, and DLC-7 SuperPro. As far as I can tell
the specs are the same on all 3 of those models. I have done a bit of research
on these, and may be able to answer questions.

Subject: [MBZ] OT - Cuisinart

On the strength of recommendations from this group, I bought SWMBO a
Cuisinart food processor, and she doesn't know how we existed without one
for so long.

Now the plastic bits are starting to crack, craze, and come apart. I just
called their service department to order a new "bowl cover" for the FP-12DC
model we have. IF they had one, it would cost $60. The whole machine was
$160 three years ago.

It seems that they come out with new models every year, and discontinue
parts about when the warranty expires. Sounds like a "sell them a new one"
strategy to me . . .

Too bad that's it's otherwise a great machine.

Our 35 year old Kitchenaid lift bowl mixer is still going strong, I had
hoped for the same from Cuisinart.
