Am I wrong in thinking thats alotta miles for a gasser?

Whats up with the HVAC controls? I've never seen that setup before. Of course
I have no 126 experience, that is a 126 right?
Oh and does the plate under the shifter being out of place scare the crap out
of anybody else?

What you describe is exactly what SHOULD happen when there is a problem
with the preglow system, NOT the ignition switch. Usually, the problem
is one or two bad glow plugs (they should measure 0.6 ohms when the
engine is cold and at most twice that when hot).

The system is designed to prevent the dash light from illumining the
FIRST time the key is turned on when there is a problem. If you turn the
key on, off, on, off, on the light can usually be coaxed to illuminate
even when there is a failure.

You have been NOTIFIED that there is a preglow problem. The next prudent
move is to diagnose it! It is almost surely NOT a fuse - as all the 190D
2.5ts I've seen had an electronic overload protection circuit rather
than a fuse in the preglow relay.
