Howdy -
I plan to replace the Serpentine Belt on my '91 300D 2.5T shortly and after reading the WSM it appears straightforward. The question I have is how to adjust the tension mechanism. The manual shows a special tool - which I don;t have - is there a backyard equivilent I can make/find?

The tension is controlled ONLY by the spring in the OM60x engines. No adjustment possible. The gasoline cars require adjustment of belt tension.

All of the nonsense about using the MityVac (or equivalent) in 13-343 is just so you can turn the engine with the starter without the engine starting.
