I don't know about W124 chassis, but on W123 the axle is retained in the differential with a c-clip. It has a shim, presumably for end play. *If* the W124 is similar, perhaps the shim is worn? https://youtu.be/7ZEMTHaHEeE Pushing up/down on the axle stub at the differential I can make a deep knock, like the bearing on the side of the diff is bad. Light knock doing the same on the half axle shaft. 389k miles, I think I need a "new" used differential. -- Max Dillon Charleston SC '87 300TD '95 E300 _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com </mercedes@okiebenz.com></mercedes-boun...@okiebenz.com> _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
